"Penny Haren has written another book with her quilt blocks that look pieced but are actually appliquéd in Weekend Projects. There are a dozen projects that include quilts, table toppers, place mats and even a bulletin board.
The book begins with a section on general instructions covering the five easy steps to making a pieced applique block. This process requires glue which has to be removed after the block is completed. This is a time consuming process of about 20 minutes. There is also a page on fussy cutting your fabric.
Each pattern has a fabric list set off in a yellow frame. Any templates needed are included at full size. The cutting list includes how many paper templates you need as well as the size the fabric will be. Graphics help make sure you are doing what the written instructions say. Backing and binding instructions are given but no quilting directions are provided. The standard “quilt as desired” is the only direction for finishing your project.
Many quilters have trouble with the points and for this reason this type of book is a great help. If you are having trouble with that, you may want to get this book."
