More about the quilt from Penny Haren:
"My father, William Winfield Vaughn, dropped out of high school at 16 to support the war effort by working in the steel mills in Canton, Ohio. He enlisted as soon as he turned 18. He instilled in us the value of education and regretted not graduating from high school. In his words, 'Our generation weren't heroes, we just did what we had to do.' But, in this daughter's eyes, he is my hero."
Landauer Publishing is proud to announce our participation in the Quilted In Honor (QIH) campaign, led by Island Batik. QIH is a fund raising initiative for Operation Homefront, one of the top military fund raising organizations. Together with many others we're working to harness the collective power of the quilting industry to give back to the ones that need it most. Individually, each organization could donate something, but if we all worked together to support this outstanding organization – what could we really achieve?
