Needleturn Appliqué The basics & beyond is the 11th book in the Landauer Publishing’s best-selling basics & beyond technique series. In this book Angela Lawrence, who has been teaching needleturn appliqué for a number of years, shares the basic techniques that she teaches in her classroom. You will learn everything you need to know to create a full range of needleturn appliqué projects. In addition to the extensive chapter on supplies and tools you will find information on fabric color and selection including the six key elements to consider when selecting fabrics. The heart of the book, of course, is the needleturn instructions themselves. The template plastic method, freezer paper method, tracing method, and overlay method are discussed along with beautiful color close-up photos to help you see exactly what the author is teaching. The appliqué stitch is covered in detail. The author touches on every possible scenario you may encounter while stitching, including circles, curves and creating bias stems. Layering appliqué shapes, reverse appliqué and embellishing techniques top off the instructional part of the book. There are 9 colorful and fun projects for you to practice what you have learned, with all the patterns bound in an envelope at the back of the book. They are sized at 100% so no need to enlarge. I particularly liked all the hints and tips the author sprinkles throughout the book.
